i began my musical career at the age of four playing piano. shortly afterwards i stopped taking lessons, and my piano playing reflects that to this day. i sang in the church choir throughout childhood.

in middle school, i played baritone sax in the band, and would have continued through high school. however, the prospect of marching around a football field carrying a saxophone nearly as large and heavy as i was seemed absolutely masochistic, and i quit the school band and started my own. i wanted to learn bass, but since we had a guitar at the house that was what i took up.

through high school and college, i played in many different bands -- mainly handling rhythm guitar and singing. i began writing songs in high school, and my love of recording grew simultaneously as i figured out how to record my compositions to tape.

after years as a guitarist, i decided to give the bass a try, and immediately knew that this was the instrument i was meant to play. the combination of rhythm and melody is intoxicating, and the power to make the room groove never gets old.

my primary influences as a bass player are Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Flea, Roger Waters and Bootsy Collins -- all of whom share my love of composition and using the bass as both a rhythm and melodic instrument.
